Members in North East Launch First Regional SEC Group
An SEC group for the North East of England holds its first meeting on Tuesday 22 January in Jesmond (Newcastle-upon-Tyne). It follows a chance meeting at the recent SEC conference between committee members Barbara Roberts and Val Barnes and SEC member John Hucker, who lives in Whitley Bay.
"John was unknown to us, but we went for a meal after the conference and decided to set up the SEC's first regional group," explains Barbara. "The meeting is open to any SEC members and also to guests and non-members: it's a networking opportunity for those working, or hoping to work, in the wide field of education consultancy."
The meeting takes place at 7pm on 22 January at the Sale Pepe Italian restaurant in St George’s Terrace, Jesmond. The nearest Metro station is West Jesmond. Anyone interested in joining the meeting is asked to call Barbara on 07980 771818 or Val on 07977 052424 before the event and by 5pm on the day at the latest.
"We hope this can be the first in a network of regional SEC groups around the country, where members can make contacts and share experiences and non-members can come along and find out more about the Society," Barbara concluded. Any members interested in forming other regional groups are invited to contact the General Secretary, Paul Herbert, on gensec@sec.org.uk
The 2008 SEC Conference takes place on Friday 28 November at RSA House, London. Further details soon.
