General Secretary Now Appointed

The SEC committee has appointed Paul Herbert as General Secretary of the society. Paul’s background is in journalism and he now runs a business, Edge Media, which specialises in helping schools with PR and communications. Paul has been a member of the SEC since late 2005.

SEC Chair Nick Zienau said: 'I would like to welcome Paul on board. As a committee, we recognise that the General Secretary role is of key importance in securing the development and growth of the society, so we gave considerable thought to this appointment.'

Paul, who is based in Gloucestershire, added: 'I"m looking forward to working with the committee as the society seizes the opportunity of expanding and adopting a fully professional approach to its operations,' says Paul. 'This new website is the first sign of that approach, and we will increasingly be using it in the coming months to communicate more effectively with members, potential members and clients.'
