Rachael Sarah Jefferson-Buchanan :: Bath Spa University

My first degree is a BEd (Hons) in Physical Education, Dance and Special Educational Needs. I subsequently gained an MA in Dance Studies, specialising in dance analysis, criticism, gender, anthropology and education. I have more than 20 years national and international experience teaching children from 3-18 years through, in and about movement. As well as six years recent physical education lecturing experience on the Primary and Early Years PGCE routes, I have a strong background in health and wellbeing. I gained a 2-year diploma in Research on Yoga in Education in 2007, and have used this knowledge to create and teach a 3rd year Education Studies module on the undergraduate programme at Bath Spa University. This module also enables me to regularly deliver training in 'Fundamental Movement Skills' to education students; I am the UK consultant for this Australian professional development programme. My teaching and research interests are combined within my PhD studies at the University of Birmingham. I have published many articles and a book in the domain of movement, and I am also an accomplished national and international presenter. In addition, I have served on the National Dance Teachers' (NDTA) Executive Committee for more than six years, with one of my roles being assistant editor for their publication "Dance Matters".
