Learning Technologies

Learning technologies can have huge benefits in improving achievement and enhancing learning, but wrongly handled can be worse than useless, alienating teachers, boring learners and wasting time. It is essential to plan well and to make sure staff are well-trained to make the best use of the available tools.

Planning

What steps should you take in planning to implement a Virtual Learning Environment or other online support for learning? What costs and staff issues need to be considered and how should you plan for implementation and deployment? I offer an initial consultancy session to help you consider your decisions and to get things right, followed by project assistance if necessary. I will make sure you know all the options so that you can plan from a position of knowledge and understanding, not of guesswork.

Training

I am a qualified teacher (and have taught PGCE/Cert Ed in addition to Media Studies) and an experienced trainer. I am also a learning technologist with good technical skills. Standard training sessions (which can be adapted if required) include VLE Course Administration for Teachers, Non-Technical VLE Site Administration, Train the Trainers and Advanced Collaborative Online Teaching and Learning.
