- A father planning to relocate to London seeks a consultant to advise on a placement in a London school for his son, who will be five in June. Must have experience with occupational therapy services.

- A new international college in London planning to open soon seeks a consultant to help with the paperwork necessary to obtain BAC accreditation and the Home Office UKBA licence. Previous experience in opening a private international college would be preferable.
- February 2010: – Special needs appeal help required
- A London parent is seeking help in making an appeal case regarding her five-year-old daughter in order to secure her a place at one of two schools in the local area, both of which are full. The girl has exceptional social needs and is currently seeing Child and Mental Health Services.

- An interim recruitment specialist is recruiting for a Head of Schools Effectiveness at an East Midlands local authority. Ex- teachers/headteachers who also have some Local Authority experience would be preferable. The job is on an interim basis, and would be three days per week (minimum). The job involves:
- Leading and managing the team of Standards & Effectiveness (SET) advisers
- Quality-assuring the work of the SET team and secondary SIPs/NCAs

- A local authority needs a Special Education Needs consultant to work on-site at a local government client on an interim basis. The remuneration is excellent, and the client wants someone to start straight away.
- February 2010: – Consultant to set up programmes for international college
- A rapidly expanding international college seeks a consultant to help develop a project aimed at improving professional and degree programme and at obtaining various affiliations, as well as meeting compliance requirements. The work involves assisting the CEO/Board in identifying educational partners and in then exploring such partnerships. The budget for this is approximately £10,000 and the task is to be completed within four months.
- February 2010: – Project in Cameroon
- A partner in a consortium for Lot 11 of the EU Framework Contract 'Beneficiaries 2009' requires an education strategist/education planner for public administrations for a project in Cameroon. The consultant would need to speak French and English and to have previous African experience. The role would be for 55 days over three months, starting in March 2010.

- A parent is appealing for a consultant to advise her on options for her 16-year-old son to return to education. He has poor GCSE results and his Building and Construction apprenticeship came to a premature end due to difficulties with the business. She is prepared to pay for private education.

- A company supplying a web-based communication system for the education sector requires a consultant to answer email enquiries on specific education-related matters, whether from the company or from its customers. Among other features, the system allows teachers to communicate with parents and students via SMS and email.
- January 2010: – Commercial Manager for Schools Organisation
- An organisation with an expanding network of schools in the North East of England seeks a Commercial Manager to generate income from commercial, community and educational use out of school hours. The successful candidate will, inter alia, be expected to develop a subscription-based alumni society and develop the organisation’s sites as venues for adult education services. A salary of c£60k is offered
- January 08 2010: – Ofsted advice for Saturday supplementary school
- A Saturday supplementary school for primary-aged children with centres in North London is looking into becoming Ofsted-registered and approved, and needs advice on this process. It has around 130 enrolled pupils attending its sites for two or four hours each week in term time. It also runs a daily summer school programme which pupils attend for four-five hours a day, five days a week for a duration of two or three weeks. The school has a part-time staff of about nine qualified and non-qualified tutors.
- December 2009: Advice for parents
- A consultant is sought by the parents of a girl who, because of illness, has had to withdraw from her A levels. Their daughter obtained six very good GCSEs and was studying Sociology, Psychology and History. Because of her absence she no longer meets the requirements of the college and so she is unable to continue her studies there. Her parents seek guidance and advice on their daughters’ options to enable her to continue her education.

- A newly established further and higher education college seeks an education consultant who is well versed in dealing with the application and accreditation process for either ASIC (Accreditation Service for International Colleges) or BAC (British Accreditation Council).
- December 2009: Assistance with Ofsted registration
- A London-based care company providing accommodation and support to young people coming out of foster care and introducing them to semi-independent living is looking for a consultant to guide it through an Ofsted registration.
The company is also looking for any consultants who can provide guidance: on children with disabilities; leaving care; 24-hour units and 16+ care within the boroughs of London and the home counties. - November 2009: Training opportunity in Uganda
- An international school in Uganda offering the ENC to its primary section seeks a consultant to provide training with the New Primary Frameworks in Mathematics and Literacy, as well as possible another area such as Assessment.
- November 2009: Government tender opportunity
- The UK Government is looking to commission an evaluation of its China education programmes (estimated value £90,000) and an evaluation of its sub-Sahara Africa education programmes (estimated value £70,000).
- October 16 2009: Dubai conference speaker/workshop leader
- An organisation is looking for a consultant to attend a conference in Dubai. Looking at issues such as the international school market: growth and future prospects; global workforces and the economics of international education, the consultant would be a speaker or workshop leader. Expenses will be offered, but no fee paid.
- October 9 2009: Ofsted preparation
- An Independent Secondary school with 70 pupils on role is seeking a consultant to help prepare the School for a forthcoming Ofsted inspection. The school is democratically run, with pupils having a full say in all aspects of school life.
- September 22 2009: Help with education resources pack
- A UK organisation celebrating its quincentenary is seeking assistance with compiling a Key Stage 1 activity pack, followed by packs for KS3 and KS4. The organisation has a legacy KS2 pack, but wishes to improve on this for the other key stages.
- September 21 2009: Action plan for residential school
- A residential school for autistic children in the North of England has been instructed by OFSTED to formulate an action plan. It urgently needs help producing an acceptable plan, to include: a curriculum policy supported by plans and schemes of work; subject matter related to the age of pupils, including those with statements; appropriate careers guidance for secondary pupils.

- A parent requires a consultant’s advice in finding a suitable History of Art degree course for his daughter, starting in 2010. Options may include re-sitting her A levels.

- A global consulting organisation which manages projects for major donors, delivering aid work in core disciplines such as education, health, HIV and AIDS, governance, resource and environment management and infrastructure, is seeking suitable personnel. The organisation works in Europe, Latin & North America, Asia, the Pacific and Africa.
The Group is looking to tender for the upcoming Australian Scholarships for Africa Program. They are seeking expressions of interest for potential high profile leadership positions based in Africa – an opportunity for development experts from the education sector looking to contribute to African development. - August 2009: School Construction Project

An Architecture and Project Management Group seek an Education Consultant to assist with a £2.5 million school construction project in the south of England.
The consultant will be required to guide the team and the client with the design and configuration of the spaces and the facilities within them. - A large UK property group with educational interests in India is seeking a consultant for a new project. In association with the largest private education provider in India, the group intends to start a business college in London. The new college will focus on post-graduate courses in Care, Hospitality and Management which will complement the group’s chains of hotels and care homes within its property portfolio. The consultant must have experience in new project management and have the appropriate accreditation.
- 3rd June 2009: TEFL
- A private Teaching English as a Foreign Language training company is looking to attain QCA accreditation for its qualifications. It seeks a consultant who has experience of successfully gaining QCA accreditation for other companies to help them identify the process and work with them over several months . The consultant would probably undertake several days of work per month and act as the company's contact point for all QCA dialogue.
- 3rd June 2009: Pre-OFSTED Inspection
- A Primary school in South Devon requires a consultant to provide a pre-Ofsted inspection "health check" for the nursery (0-4) and Foundation Stage (4-5) provision. The consultant must be an Early Years specialist and OfSTED-trained.
- 28th May 2009: International School
- An Education Group based in Malaysia seeks a UK consultant from the UK with experience of international schools. The group wishes to establish an international school in Kuala Lumpur offering a British curriculum from pre-school grades to A- Level. The consultant should be an ex-principal of an international school who can readily and promptly advise on the kind of design, learning spaces, logistics, procedures, capacity infrastructure for a school, and on its organisational and operational plans.
- 27th May 2009: International Baccalaureate
- A school management company is looking for someone to advise it on setting the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at one of its schools. This appointment would require the consultant chosen to spend, two-week sessions in both June and August in Pakistan working with the schools staff. Specific IB experience is a requirement.
- 25th May 2009: Middle East Opportunity

A large privately owned education group with divisions in the UK, the Middle East and Asia, is seeking an Education Adviser. Through its UK-based school management company, it is bidding for the operation of four schools in the Middle East, having made it through the prequalification stage.
The consultant will be required to assist with the writing of the proposal. Visits to the schools form an essential component of the bid preparation and a pre-bid conference involving all the bidders is also being scheduled. The school management team would meet up with the consultant in Abu Dhabi and provide all the necessary input to enable the consultant to put together a viable proposal. A School Improvement Plan is apparently required for only one of the four schools. - 1 May 2009: School Improvement Capacity
- A company specialising in helping large public and private sector organisations manage complex change is looking for consultants to work in pairs (preferably). The commissions involve working for the DCSF in its work with Local Authorities and schools looking at school improvement capacity.
They will be engaging with Head Teachers, advising, supporting, getting information, diagnosing, making suggestions and shaping the vision. It will include looking at how a good school functions, what support there is, adding extra capacity into an Authority and looking at where additional high level support is required. The work will initially be for 6 weeks. - 27 April 2009: School Placement
- The parents of an upper school pupil are seeking an educational consultant to help them find a boarding school sympathetic to the needs of their son (aged 17 years and 9 months).
Their son displays some aspects of Aspergers, is mainly NLD, has higher-order language-learning disabilities and is currently placed in an academic year below his actual age. He has attended a UK school for the last three years and is struggling academically and socially. He was previously educated in Hong Kong.
The school required must have a balance of pastoral care and an excellent speech and language specialism. The parents also seek advice on funding. - 23 March 2009: Expert Witness
- A firm of solicitors is seeking an education specialist to assist as an expert witness. The firm is representing a client in proceedings against a secondary school which focus on failings relating to race equality and security.
- 13 March 2009: Promotional Opportunity
- A leading consumer lifestyle magazine is preparing a feature focusing on options for school leavers in the current economic climate and needs an education consultant specialising in higher education to offer advice on a variety of questions. These include: Should pupils stick with the main academic subjects for GCSE and A Levels? Does a Degree help to get a job and what are the merits of vocational versus non-vocational higher qualifications? Are MAs popular and do they assist with career options? A journalist from the magazine would discuss these and other questions with the consultant.
- 18 February 2009: Overseas Pupils' School Placement
- The parents of two children are seeking advice on finding placements for their children in suitable UK schools.
The children, aged 12 and 14, are Sudanese and are currently at school in their home country. The parents’ need is temporary, probably until the end of this school year. - 19 January 2009: Consultant Opportunity
- A consultant is needed to work on Academy projects in the South/Midlands with an expanding organisation. The task would involve a varying work load over an eight-nine month period.
It will involve liaising between academy sponsors and the local authority, and advising the BSF Project Manager. Candidates will be expected to understand the management of the feasibility and / or implementation stages for academy projects in accordance with the requirements of DCSF.
This role would suit an ex-school principal who may have worked in an academy, or alternatively an ex-headteacher / deputy with some experience of working within the Building Schools for the Future or Academies arena. - 13 January 2009: School Improvement Planning
- A publishing house based in London is looking for an author for the updates to a school improvement publication providing guidance, worked examples and sample documents to help those employed in this sector deliver best practice and prepare for Ofsted inspections.
The author will have a strong background in education and a sound knowledge of the requirements of school improvement planning. - 9 December 2008: Associate Consultants
- A newly established company is looking for education consultants to become associates as part of a mutually beneficial arrangement. It is hoped to build an informal network of education consultants providing services to schools and education organisations.

- A plastic bottle manufacturer is seeking an education consultant to advise on website content. Their intention is to create an Education area on their site. This will look at the manufacture of plastic bottles and feature information on the re-cycling process. It is intended that this will include teaching resources and activity sheets based on Key Stage 2 National Curriculum objectives.
- 1 December 2008: Early Years Author
- A publishing house based in London is looking for an author for a publication aimed at Early Years practitioners. The aim of the title is to provide guidance, worked examples and sample documents to help those employed in this sector deliver best practice and prepare for Ofsted inspections. The author should have an established background in Early Years with a sound knowledge of the Foundation Stage, ideally being a practitioner or an Ofsted Inspector.
- 18 November 2008: Professional Clerks
- An SEC member's business is looking for professional clerks to service governing body and committee meetings across London but in West London in particular. It is desirable, but not essential, for candidates to have some training in governance and even better if they have had experience of the governing body clerk’s role.

- A London-based education charity that has expanded operations to the North West of England and West Midlands would like to hear from consultants who could nominate teachers suitable for being developed into senior leaders for urban schools.

- A national broadcaster is producing a new music television series which is aimed at pre-school age children. A consultant specialising in music and early years education is sought to advise on the project.

- A female student from the Middle East wishes to study Business and English at a university in Central London. An education consultant is sought to help find a suitable institution at which she can take a foundation course to qualify for entry to the degree course.
- 13 October 2008: Advice for Manchester Families
- An education consultant is needed in 2009 to help deliver general schooling advice to families relocating into the Greater Manchester area. The advice will be delivered via a series of exhibitions based in Central Manchester. This assignment would best suit a consultant who is based within the Greater Manchester area and is familiar with local schools.
- 4 September 2008: Support for School in Improving Standards
- A multi-cultural school in London wishes to commission a highly experienced educational professional. S/he will work with the school’s senior management team, lending support in an initiative to improve standards. Will require a commitment of at least two days a week for one term.
- 22 August 2008: Help with Online Resource Needed
- A national professional body is seeking an education consultant to help review a tax-related online resource relevant to a variety of GCSE subjects. The consultant will make suggestions for improvement with a view to compiling new activities that are more teacher/student-friendly.
- 13 August 2008: Authors Required
- Authors are being sought by a management consultancy to be involved in the production of two education publications. Intended as practical guideline tools for headteachers and senior managers, these publications will focus on school improvement planning and performance management, with particular relevance to preparing for Ofsted inspections and performance reviews.

- A national body is looking for a consultant to perform a scoping study on flooding. This would entail completing a report that would show how information held by the organisation could be used in Higher Education. The report should focus on how the organisation’s data on flooding could be adapted for this purpose and how it should be formatted. The cost of the project also needs to be established.

- A dynamic consultancy specialising in helping organisations through change requires someone to lead the management and the representation of the customer interface. - An Early Years specialist is being sought by a small West London publisher to write materials on the Early Years Foundation Stage.

- An interactive, web based educational resource provider requires help in correlating activities in its database with their application to the new Curriculum for Excellence guidelines in Scotland for the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. This work focuses on per-school and primary school levels.

- A private distance-learning college seeks a consultant to assist in its aim of seeking ac.uk status and Government funding. The college also wishes to create a link with a university for degree courses.

- A joint venture partnership producing a web-based school development planning and performance management support package is seeking interested parties to take up franchises of the programme. Franchisees would be required to provide school customers with training and after-care.

- An independent day preparatory school in the Midlands, England, needs a speaker/trainer in the field of creativity within Early Years education. The school wishes to motivate teaching staff to look across the Early Years curriculum and develop inclusive "creative" planning for learning.

- A mother needs a consultancy to find a suitable day school in London for her son when he turns five years of age. He is a bright, bi-lingual child currently living mainly in Brazil.

- A headteacher at a school in the south of England is looking for a consultant who can help with developing the teaching of English, including visiting the school to give advice about the curriculum and the latest methods/ideas. Issues with English include that standards are not as high as they should, staffing has been unstable and the leadership of the department has been ineffective.
- 30 April 2008: Trainers Required for Wellbeing Programmes
- A national social enterprise with a nine-year record of delivering wellbeing programmes in schools and local authorities is expanding its network of associate trainers and consultants to work up to 50 days each year at a daily rate of approximately £300. Consultants are needed around the UK, but especially in London and the South East. The work involves running training workshops, working with individual schools or organisations over an extended period and delivering occasional bespoke training sessions. Full training will be provided for the successful consultants. An introduction day is being held in London on 15 May 2008.
- 30 April 2008: Charity Seeks Help on Linking Cancer Advice on National Curriculum
A national cancer charity is seeking help with completing development of its new lessons plans for schools. The themes covered include 'diet', 'smoking' and 'fitness'. Direct links can be made to PSHE and Citizenship, with further cross-curricular links to Literacy, Science and Design and Technology amongst others. Each lesson has three differentiated versions - one for KS2, KS3 and KS4.
Content accuracy has been checked by nutritionists and other medical professionals, but the charity now wants to ensure the plans are accurate from an educational point of view and would like to work with an educational consultant to make the relevant National Curriculum links for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

- A consultancy is seeking a Lead Consultant to be responsible for leading teams working on education assignments. Working with, or on behalf of, the Client Director, the person will also have responsibilities for: facilitating and taking the lead on all assignment activities; providing ‘thought leadership’ and strategic planning, and for identifying and securing new business. This permanent position will pay up to £70,000 with a good benefits package. The candidate can be home-based anywhere as the role is nationwide.

- A national charity has been asked to source an interim management opportunity, which is essentially a Head of School Improvement role. The consultant will be based in South East England for a 12-month contract, with a possible extension after that.

- MBA students in the North of England working to restart a crèche/day care facility are seeking to appoint a consultant/agency to help them get it certified by OFSTED.

- A Partnership with responsibility for an AONB wants to appoint a consultant to advise on its education development programme. Offering 36 days’ work in a 12-month programme, the role will involve formulating strategic policies, partnerships and approaches to education work.
- 21 November 2007: Advice needed on school for four-year-old
- The parent of a four-year-old boy who has started in Reception at a school in the South East of England this year is asking for a consultant to advise him. The boy is described as very bright and well ahead of his peers. However, the parent is not happy with the school, which the boy has had to attend due to various personal circumstances.
- 19 November 2007: Advice needed on suitable independent school for girl
- An American couple based in north London are seeking a consultant to help them find a suitable independent school for their daughter. She is currently in Year 6 at a preparatory school, but has not found the experience there rewarding. Their requirements include finding a school close to their home, so that she will have a circle of friends she can readily see outside school. The couple previously had great success in working with a consultant to place their son in a school.
- 19 November 2007: Information on boarding schools needed
- A journalist working for a well-known American business magazine is working on a feature on Europe’s 10 most expensive boarding schools. She would like advice and information about such schools, including their admissions processes and the benefits of a European boarding school education. A modest payment may be available.
- 25 October 2007: Consultant Needed to Advise on Space Planning at F.E. College
- A consultant is needed as soon as possible to advise a large developer on space planning at an FE college in the south of England. The developer needs to determine whether the existing courses and facilities in a particular building should be rationalised into the remaining college accommodation or relocated off site (either permanently or temporarily), without prejudicing educational attainment.

- A national charity is seeking experienced consultants to help with an anti-bullying project. The charity is at the forefront of supporting children’s services, such as children’s centres, extended schools, play provision, childare, parenting support and support for young people.

- A consultant is needed by a company working on a fresh approach to contemporary music education at both FE and HE levels and on a ground-breaking e-learning model. The consultant will be required to advise on the course accreditation process and the placement of courses at educational establishments throughout the UK.
- 17 August 2007: URGENT LAST-MINUTE OPPORTUNITY FOR SOFTWARE EXPERT
- The latest opportunity is from a London council with a specific requirement for work it is undertaking in Children’s Services and schools. It is seeking a business analyst with strong experience in the education management software field. The council has implemented a number of modules of a Capita EMS system and is now seeking an informed view of the strategic options available to it in light of other software developments underway in the service. The job is to start early September. The official deadline for CVs to be submitted was 10am on Friday, but this has been extended for SEC members to 9am on Monday 20 August.
- 14 August 2007: Project Manager for Autism Initiative
- A new DCSF-funded initiative to support children with autism needs a project manager for a six-month fixed-term contract from October 2007. The initiative brings together the Government, third-sector and private providers to help schools and early-years settings. The project manager will co-ordinate the development of this initiative during the first part of its formative year. She/he will work with the steering group to develop and deliver a communications strategy, oversee a research programme and implement plans to maximise the initiative’s long-term impact. The salary is £29k-£32k pro rata. Application deadline: 7 September.
- 25 July 2007: Help With Educational Material on Health
- This year’s Ask About Medicines Week in November is focusing on children and young people. The organisers need a consultant available this August and September to help them develop information packs and resources on medicines that health professionals could use to deliver a 'lesson' in primary and secondary schools.
