History & Structure

The Society was founded in 1990 in response to the emerging market in education services. It now provides a one-stop shop to individuals, education and children’s services managers and governors, whether in schools and academies, LAs, HE!s, or other institutions looking for high quality professional help and support. Our 140 or so members provide the high-quality and highly skilled pool of talent needed to provide that support. All our Members work to a strict Code of Practice that provides a benchmark for their integrity and the quality of their work, and accredited members subscribe to our Quality Assurance Service.

Our membership encompasses consultants who work as individuals, in partnerships, in small companies or in association with larger consultancies or organisations right across the education and children’s services sectors. We provide them with a showcase for their services and with various support services.

In 2011 the Society became a company limited by guarantee, in which all our members share ownership. The Society's affairs are managed through a small team of volunteer Directors, elected by members at our AGM. Our administrative support is bought in from our partners, Imaginative Minds, who also provide some of their publications for members as part of our subscription package. Accredited members are also automatically included in their register of Professional Learning Communities which provides consultancy support direct to schools.
